The game he plays
alone,
is indication
to me of all
the inadequacy
that he brings
to the world in which he lives
and he is scolded
just for being comfortable
with the concept that here,
he might find home at last.
but in this place
he exists
for the pain
of knowing
how it works
and he lives
for the rejection
and he loves
the inflection
of her voice
when she tells him
to go away...
and it is then, he finds
that he most wants to stay...
I survey this kingdom,
this destruction...
this waste.
I run from where he is
and the distance
becomes salvation.
this is no addiction...
we survive, simply,
that balance is made.
