I've been building
an army of rejected souls
with every face I turn away
with little more
than a vacant smile-
I can't help being here,
being me, in this place-
where there is little else
that I have been able to
hold on to for long.

I have always existed-
synchronized to the pulse
of those hearts that beat
too near to mine- and if only
for a brief moment, I have known
what it is to see myself
in everything- to understand
that all the rules, and all
the things that they would label
just, or right, are only lies...

yes, this is a matter of opinion.

But I won't watch this time,
as everything around me fades,
and I won't wait this time
for everything I know to dissapear
and become as if it never was...

this time,
I am only here to learn-
so that tomorrow
I might better explain
my reasons for this gift...

I have long since gone away-
and my motivation lies silent
beneath the forgotten crown.
