| The Heart Will Die As Well |
I find I’ve always had
The strangest way of knowing
Long before
The end is met,
Where everyone is going.
I’ve stood idly by
And watched the sky fall-
Though I’ve cared, too much
Some would say- when none
Would heed my warning call…
While everything
I lay my hands on
crumbles into dust-
I bite my tongue, and
Blink back tears- and learn
Never to trust…
I’ve burned, with only
failure and betrayal
Flowing in my veins,
I’ve sacrificed myself
Ten thousand times,
Knowing well, that nothing
Of the person I once was remains…
I find I’ve always understood
Too soon, the way
The world I’ve loved will end-
And still, I hoped that change
Would come to this...
If only we pretend
