The Heart Will Die As Well

I bring you flowers,
love, though
there is no vase,
there is no place
to put this feeling -
and these flowers
wilt. and soon, I pray
that they, like this
love, will die.

I cannot bear
to watch
this scene unfold -
I cannot sit
quietly, and
do what I am told...
though
you must know me better,
by now... than to speak of
this quiet that you seek...
when here you wait
watching patiently
and I am losing myself
as I try, forcing myself
to believe this lie.
