27 Reasons to Quit Smiling

I wake
shaking with fears too sinister
to shake off with a prayer.
I have reached rapture.
I watched the world end last night.

When you open your eyes
will you remember
that you were there too?
Feet on the floor-
will you remember who you are?

Tear blackened eyes
greet my morning smile
and I am reminded
that I knew you last night...

There was life to live
but I have lost passion...

I know-
no amount of silence
could stifle the echoes
of accusations spoken and
long since forgotten...

Rationality fails me today
and all I know...
there is passion to be found
there is life to live still...

I am through waiting
for everything to change-

Love, for me...

it already has.
