27 Reasons to Quit Smiling

There is no love left
to counter this hate
a bitter emotion
filled with frustrations
and all the silences
left behind- tarnished
by words we never utter.

Simplicity falls away
and everything unravels
these emotions no longer tangled
I can never openly express
just how you make me feel.
I can never look at you
and unleash my anger

For sanity's sake,
I walk away-
I avert my eyes...
You don't want to know me...
You know enough already to
try and decipher my smile
consider for a moment-
what hides behind this gaze...

When you let go
and freefall up into the sky
somewhere- arms spread wide
I will land with little pain...
I will get up, brush myself off...
and know for once...
that everything is going to be okay.
