In The Rain

I'm holding out for better days
a hundred and one sunrises
before we wake no more...
ninety-nine sunsets
and my finish line is in sight.

I haven't the strength-
I haven't the will
to turn these thoughts into ink...
Your story was so different
until now
your life was so different
until now

and you can blame me for everything
and I will stand by
and hold your hand
while you push out the ugliest of phrases...
this eternity isn't for the two of us.

This place has lost its shine...
become an endless circle
become the elimination of self
we swallow each others tails
and the world still ends-
at least to us...

I'm holding out for better days-
when we are no more.
